Aboriginal Rights
Pemulwuy (Aboriginal Activist) survived being shot 9 times before he was shot (for the 10th time) and died!
When an Aboriginal child is born they have the health of a child in a 3rd world country!
Smallpox killed half of the Sydney aboriginal population when the English settlement began!
Eddie Mabo died 5 months before he won his case on Native Titles.

Childs Rights
According to studies done by anti-slavery groups, there are currently more slaves today around the world then there ever has been! Three quarters of the total slaves are female and way over half are children. It is believed that there are around 27 million people in slavery right now. The average slave you can buy today costs around $90 – whereas in the past they cost the equivalent of $40,000 in today’s money.
Children as young as 6 worked up to 19 hours with only a 1 hour break. Some children worked for as little as 3 pence or even no pay.

Fairtrade
That the first Fairtrade certified product was Green & Black’s Maya Gold Chocolate launched in 1994
That there are over 200 different types of Fairtrade certified products to choose from.
It takes three years for a cocoa plant to grow to its full maturity and can live to be 25 – 30 years old!
The U.K. are the main country tackling Fairtrade they have already successfully switched all their Coffee, Chocolate and Bananas to Fairtrade. We Australia have to catch up to them we can do it.
Without Fairtrade producers have to forego meal so their family can eat, medical treatment and keep their children out of school just to survive because the rules aren’t fair.

Animal Cruelty
We choose animal cruelty as our topic because we believe animals should be treated the same way we treat humans. We want to help animals that are suffering from animal testing. We also wanted to find out all about the rights of animals.

Child Labour
We choose this topic because we feel that all children should have the same rights and working rights and living conditions. We had a few ideas but we didn't know how bad it was. Living in such an amazing country we really want to make difference and help children around the world have a better future.
